Our Why

Mission

The mission of the HCT Foundation is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in

effective treatment and breakthrough research to prevent and eventually cure

CRPS and similar complex chronic pain diagnoses.

Our Purpose

HCT Foundation, Inc. and Holistic Centered Treatment are committed to providing patient-centered care and addressing systemic issues within the healthcare industry that may lead to patients being treated as commodities within a cycle of inadequate treatments.

Recognizing the limitations of a fragmented healthcare system—with its focus on specialization—HCT acknowledges the challenges faced by individuals managing multiple diagnoses or complex medical cases within current structures.

A prevailing focus on isolated symptoms such as pain, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, or PTSD has proven insufficient in meeting the comprehensive needs of patients.

This excerpt is from “Stepping Outside the Box: A Journey from Invisible Pain to Invincible Living” :

“Pain is a substantial clinical reality, prompting individuals to seek effective solutions for recovery and quality of life improvement. Chronic pain affects populations indiscriminately, with over 100 million individuals diagnosed annually in the United States—surpassing the combined prevalence of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes—and impacting approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide.

The burden of chronic pain is both significant and global.

Chronic pain patients require validation and effective interventions; their experiences are legitimate and necessitate practical support. Dismissive attitudes and remarks can undermine patient well-being.

While each individual's origin of pain is distinct, patterns emerge across cases. Sometimes the cause is identifiable; other times, it remains unclear. Nonetheless, it remains essential to listen attentively and connect individuals with appropriate resources aimed at restoring function and enhancing life.”

Fully replicating the experience of living with chronic pain is unattainable; however, when healthcare providers endeavor to empathize with patients' perspectives, this understanding can facilitate meaningful progress.

It is critical to recognize the serious consequences that may result from treating patients in a fragmented manner. Unaddressed feelings of hopelessness can exacerbate symptoms and raise risks of mental health complications, substance misuse, and suicidality.

A transformative approach is warranted—one that addresses the interconnected issues confronting patients through comprehensive and integrative care strategies to promote recovery and prevent adverse outcomes.

Vision and Goals

To maximize our impact, we are committed to raising funds to support underserved individuals diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and those affected by comparable chronic pain conditions—including fibromyalgia, phantom limb pain, central sensitization, amplified muscular pain syndrome, and associated co-morbidities.

The foundation’s initiatives encompass advocacy, public awareness, and the advancement of effective treatments and research targeting CRPS, related chronic pain diagnoses, and co-existing health issues.

Our primary objective is to facilitate meaningful improvements in quality of life.

We pursue this goal by promoting access to evidence-based treatments, conducting research to advance knowledge and develop innovative therapies, and offering educational resources for patients, their families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

HCT Foundation, Inc. is steadfast in its commitment to advocacy, awareness, expanding access to high-quality care, and research advancement.

We recognize the necessity of improving access to comprehensive care for individuals coping with debilitating chronic pain conditions and associated syndromes.

Through the creation and execution of pioneering, holistic programs, we aim to deliver person-centered care that addresses the multifaceted nature of these diagnoses.

Our guiding principle asserts that individuals living with chronic pain and complex medical conditions should not endure unnecessary suffering. While traditional allopathic medicine may have limitations, integrating evidence-based practices with advances in science and technology offers pathways for patients to enhance function and restore well-being. Comprehensive treatment approaches must address the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of each individual’s condition.

We acknowledge the profound challenges faced by those experiencing persistent pain and limited hope for relief. It is our conviction that improvement and recovery are attainable. The body possesses inherent capacity for healing and restoration, and our organization is dedicated to providing the necessary support and resources to facilitate this process.
